Self-Portraits

1.
2.

For most of my images I used the snap seed app. I usually took photos outdoors on stormy or cloudy days to get some drama out of the lighting. I also found another app called photoblend where I tried making some double exposures (photo 14 and self-portrait 1) I used to work on double exposures in a basic darkroom photo class in undergrad so I was excited to find an app that allowed me to attempt it with my smart phone.

  1. My favorite photo of yours is number 14. There is a sense of mystery to this shot. I love how the people on the bench and mountains in the background are watercolor. It makes you think about the story that can be told about the people. I am definitely going to try out your edit on the next project. Great shot!

  2. These are some very interesting shots - I like how you embraced the desaturated look with all the photos - its definitely a different approach than most people would do with color. I think my favorite is #8. The composition with the house and the tree, along with the sky makes for a very nice triangle of subjects.

  3. You took a really unique approach to color and it really works as a whole! The desaturation creates a somber or quiet outlook for your viewers. To me, you really captured the cold and peacefulness of Autumn. I really enjoy #13 and your first self-portrait. The double exposures you used are not too over-the-top while also being compelling enough.

  4. This may sound weird but I took these read these photos as a recollection of a town and home from the perspective of the two individuals in photo 14. From buildings to items found within their homes.

  5. I like 10&15. They're both pretty simple but I like the color composition. It proves you don't need a heavily filtered/altered picture to have a good one. I like how you choose to leave space on the side of the frame, next to the subject in both of these pictures. It makes the picture more interesting, more to look at and think about.

  6. 5 is definitely my favorite photo. It really makes me wonder what is beyond that fog. Or even what is in that fog. Reminds me of all things Stephen King. Great work, keep it up!
