Self - Portrait #1:

Self- Portrait #2:

Recipe:

All photos taken with Iphone 6 camera. Photos were imported into snapseed app. Once in the app, I changed the image to B&w (sometimes using the contrast setting if necessary). Than, I also add the vintage setting, I enjoyed using filters 2,3 and 11 under this setting). Photos 1-8 were taken in my neighborhood, I set up a utility lamp to create contrast in the night time which was a technique I enjoyed exploring. I really like exploring relationships between light and objects.

  1. My favorite picture of yours is your first self portrait. Picture number 13. it really made me think about how the picture was taken. Was it a reflection or just a regular picture? I like your outside photos, the black and white gives a different look on the photos.

  2. I love the filters and color-editing you have added to all of these-very nice and not too over the top. (Especially in #5!) I think your strongest ones are your self-portraits. They have so much personality and mystery. #1 reminds me of a shot you would see in an old black-and-white drama.

  3. Ashley, I really enjoy pictures 2, 10, and 11. I think they are the most abstract and mysterious out of all of them. Number 2 is very cinematic - and it looks like you shot it in almost a lower shutter speed to make the flame blurry - very cool. 11 also makes me wonder what exact I am looking at. In the future, I would just tone down the coloring to make it less magenta and more crisp/dark blacks. Good job!

  4. Ashley. My favorite photos are 3 and 8. While they are all very well composed, 3 really uses perspective to it's advantage, as it paints the clothespin as a gigantic object. 8 on the other hand is more interesting purely due to it's content. This reminds me of the film Blue Velvet. In such a calm, and normal suburban neighborhood, there is unrest. Great shot.

  5. Ashley I really like number 10. The angle is very interesting and cutting the head out of the frame caught my attention

  6. I like your first self portrait as well. I found it hard to think of interesting ways to take the self portrait so I like your take on it.
