For all of these photos, I used the snapseed app. I choose a vintage filter and then the drama filter for some. I also manually changed the saturation and brightness for some photos as well. For my first self portrait, I used Photo Blender to layer the 2 individual photos that I had previously edited on snapseed. I then manually adjusted to get the appropriate balance.
My favorite picture of yours is #4, the one with the general electric sign. I feel as though it brings the viewer back in time. When I look at it I feel as though I am looking at something from many years ago.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is # 16. The lockers look very retro and the colors are muted and give that vintage vibe.
ReplyDeleteI really like what you have done in images 7 and 15. In image 7 you have successfully achieved the double exposure so that we spend time analyzing both images that are cir composed together and understanding why each are supported by the other's imagery. I am impressed that you would be able to allow the colors to be still so saturated and bold even though two photos are placed atop one another, nice! In image 15 I can admit originally I just looked over it on the first glance - then I thought... WAIT! Her face is in the crane machine! This instantly brought more of a narrative to me, How we only see your head it insinuates that your body is buried within the other stuffed animals. It is interesting the way that your facial expression contrasts with those falsely happy cartoon stuffed characters spending their lives waiting for someone to win them. I also wanted to comment on image 6. I like the set up of this image and I think the most important part is the mannequin. I wonder if you could have placed a vignetted filter atop so that it allows that section to be the brightest, and the section we look at because sometimes I got distracted by the picture frames but I wanted to keep focusing on the mannequin. Just a suggestion to think about for further advancement! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the constructive criticism!
DeleteYou did a nice job with really shooting things that are truly vintage, like the old games played in arcades. My favorite photo is picture 7. You really did a great job with the effects of the shot and implementing those photos that are old fashion into the shot. We're these relatives of yours?
ReplyDeleteYes, the photos are all relatives. My grandmother recently gave me a ton of photos that probably date back to late 1800s/early 1900s. I was really excited to use them in this project, thanks for the feedback!
DeleteHi Julie, #2 and #4 are really well-done photos, and my favorites. You use color very effectively in these photos, especially #3 with the green shadows and red background lights. Your #15 self-portrait is very daunting and visually interesting. I think adding a little bit more contrast and shadows to your photos would push them further as well.
ReplyDeleteThese are some nice shots - I think my favorites are #2 and #7. The rain in #2 definitely evokes a sense of memory which is sort of haunting. I also like your self portrait in #7, I think you did a very nice job with the double exposure - definitely one of the best self portraits I've seen in the class! Great job!
