My favorite shot of yours is #2, the one of the leaves. The way the light is shining to make the shape of the leaves pop is very interesting. It brings out a mystery of the leaves. Good angle, it definitely makes the shot.
In image 4 and 5 I like the lighting of the setting. In many of your images in this series you experimented with "passageways" that allow the viewer to peer into the distance for the focus. By using light as the way in which you direct us to what it is we should be looking at is interesting. Please continue to use this idea as I think it is strengthening your images! I think the most intriguing image is 15 because you are dealing with internal vs external space and where these ideas intersect. Because of the camera behind the window we feel like we are looking out at something; however, we are looking into another space as well. The exterior wall is adorned with laundry, lights and paintings - things we associate with the interior. It is an interesting juxtaposition of spaces which creates an interesting narrative and call to memory. Is the person who hung the laundry now gone? Did they leave this behind? The lights might serve as a representation for the person who hung the lights and laundry.
Beautiful work of lights and darks! My favorite photograph is #8. The bright texture of the raised spots in the yellow works well in contrast to the rough cement. The photograph is hard to decipher but is also a well-known texture that occurs in daily life.
Nice job - I think my favorite photo is #5, I really like the combination of colors as well as the graininess - it definitely conveys a sense of memory and vintage elements. I think the filters you used work very well - they are desaturated, but not too much. Good job.

ReplyDeleteThere's a sense of open space in a lot of your photos that make them feel lonely and cold.
